I do not watch the evening news anymore, I do not read the wall of my not-so-close friends in Facebook, I cannot stand how everything around us is starting to get entangled and slowly rolling its way to the most dreadful day where the world ends.
From afar, there is the chaos in Libya, nearer was the tsunami in Japan, Manila is preparing for a quake that (everyone hopes) will not occur: and in our little San Carlos are stories and events of deaths of young men due to guns and drug related crimes.
I cannot shy away the idea that I am getting old, paranoid, concerned.
The idea of creating the body painting event was for San Carlos City as our little contribution in the arts and culture side. For ten years we concentrated on reaching out to the other parts of the country and the world, and we have done it. This year as VIAJERRO's first project for our ten years celebration, together with some of the winning artists of the previous NBC events, we are offering a free art and body painting workshop this summer for children 9 to 11 years old and 12 to 16 year olds.
VIAJERRO needs to create a society of peace and harmony done through art. We believe that amidst the chaos and aggression driven world these young minds are living in today, there is still hope for them to stand out and be torch holders for those who have taken the wrong road. Where is the right road then? For artists, it is through right expression of emotions and thoughts not through violence and aggression.
Be a part of this crusade, help us make this summer workshop one that will lead a path for more creative and productive summers and save lives.
Please keep posted for the schedules and other programs related to this event. All you have to do is follow us in blogger and in FB.
